Robbie Williams in Sydney!

Finally, the expected Robbie Williams concert in Sydney! This was a very special event, Robbie came to Australia for the ARIA awards, and he used his stay in Australia to perform for a small audience of 1000 fans. It was last Wednesday at 8pm at the Metro in George Street near Town Hall.
Robbie started off with his new single "Bodies". As always, his songs sound so much better live than on a studio-recorded track!!! He came with some of his long standing band members like fellow guitarists Gary Nuttall (photos, left end) and Neil Taylor (photos, right end)!

I was standing about 10 metres from the stage, with about 7 people infront of me. Robbie was very relaxed and obviously very pumped to perform again. He joked about not remembering how to dance properly and forgetting lyrics. He showed us how he had all songs written down, just in case.
He sang: Bodies, Morning Sun, Feel, Come Undone, Rock DJ (Mixed with some RUDEBOX lyrics), Deceptacon, Starstruck, You Know Me, Won't Do That, Supreme, his cover of Human (originally by The Killers), and... Angels!!
"Won't do that" he sang to his girlfriend Ayda Field, who was standing at a balcony at the side of the stage.

Visit to Bankstown Tower

Back to Aviation! On Friday we visited the guys at Bankstown Tower, our daily Air Traffic Controllers. It's nice to see the faces of the people we talk to so often!

Sydney Air Traffic Control

Today I visited the Sydney Kingsford Smith ATC center with some random but awesomely cool and interesting people from Schofields Flying Club. One of the guys had organized the tour and my mate Jason and me joined immediately when we heard about the idea.
The visit was interesting, we spoke to the guys at Sydney Radar, Approach and Departures, but we didn't actually get to go on the tower, which would have been the coolest. They said that we needed to organize a specific visit for the tower, which we will try to do with no delay!

On the way back we had MacDonalds drive-thru (for 5 people, what a mess! we were laughing about how useless the girl in the intercom was, and joking about what she would do if she found herself in a cockpit in an NDB approach with an engine failure in imc).
We had our MacDonalds takeaway at Schofields, and after that I went for a little Bankstown Airport sightseeing. Here are some great shots. There's always so much action at YSBK!

NEW YEAR 2010

My first summer NYE! This time, in Sydney obviously :)

I attended the festivities with Fede, who lives on the northern shore. We saw the 9pm fireworks from the western side of the harbor bridge (Lavender Bay -above), and the midnight fireworks from the eastern side (Kirribili -below).

Those were honestly the best fireworks I've seen in my life! Don't miss out on the video:
