Last weekend was too packed with fun, sightseeing and good friends (some of them I’ve just met). I went for the 3-day Easter-weekend to Huskisson, in Jervis Bay, with James&Friends. The full set was:
James, Nytta, Diana, Magalie, Dominique, David
I left my house on Friday March 21st in the morning to meet with all the others at Central Station in Sydney. The drive in James’ car to the south (Dominique drove his Ducati) along the coast to Huskisson was about 3 Hours long, and we stopped for a snack at Hedgehog’s in a small town called Berry, the very first cute truly Australian village I’ve been to.
We spoke French together the whole time since half of the present people were French and the rest of us were very happy to practice the (in my case, already rusty) language with them!
We stayed at a Motel 2 minutes from the beach and Huskisson’s Main Street. On the same Friday afternoon we went on a boat for a Dolphin-watch cruise which brought us up and down Jervis Bay to spot dolphins. In deed we saw two sharks, or at least their fins, swimming peacefully without looking too hungry, and a dolphin with its young. The dolphins looked quite boring at first, not playful as you might know them from tv, but as we had seen them long enough and the captain decided to head back, the dolphins followed us and placed themselves on the boat prow where they were pushed along without effort and we could see them from very near and take nice pictures!
In the evening we had dinner at a cool restaurant where we ordered steaks and the steaks actually came on a hot stone plate but it was raw and we had to cook the meat as we ate it! It was kind of cool, very original I must say. Later on we went to the husky pub to play pool and I was really bad at it (I have played pool few times in my life!) but after Diana taught me how it was done again I scored quite a couple of points!
On Saturday we had a huge continental brunch before going out to open sea on 3 double kayaks. I went on a kayak with Magalie and we all paddled for a whole 2’30 hours, as far as we could. It was very tiring but it was worth it, we shored on a wonderful deserted beach and took photos, and on the way back we say two dolphins just 10 or 20m from us! It was fantastic. That day we had dinner at a pizzeria and outside they threw fireworks to celebrate easter. Later on we played cards at home ‘till we were all tired and went to bed.
On Sunday we had breakfast at the boulangerie and visited Hyam Beach, with one of the whitest sands in the world! It was really beautiful, the beach was shining bright and the water was turquoise green and dark blue! We had lunch at a Fish&Chips and I ate Shark!
In the evening James dropped us all at our houses, that was really nice!
I almost forgot to mention that
we drove by (believe it or not!!) towns called "warra warra" and "warrilla" !
